This two-part series reimagines the mermaid—not as a passive myth or object of desire—but as a force of resistance. In each illustration, the mermaid rises against a ship, tearing it apart with strength and resolve. The ship becomes an allegory for patriarchy: rigid, destructive, and built to dominate.

Through these images, the mermaid embodies women’s power to confront, dismantle, and reshape the structures that have long sought to contain them. They are not victims of myth—they are agents of change, reclaiming both their story and their sea.
